I am looking for any information regarding Fanny (nee Hands) & Charles James - Fanny Hands born 1853 married Charles James born 1853 - 29th May 1871 they had one daughter Emma Elizabeth born 1876 at this time they were living at Frankfort Street .......Fanny's Dad was William Hands.

I have been unable to find any trace of either Fanny or Charles following the birth of their daughter........Has anyone any ideas?

Thank you.

Re: FANNY Hands amarried to Charles James

According to ancestry there is a baptism of an Emma Elizabeth May 24th 1876 with an address as Lower Tower Street.
Their marriage lists their address as McDonald Street.

There is a death for Charles in 1888 in Birmingham.
There is a burial record of a Fanny James in 1916 address as 51 Priory Road. Listed at St Peter and Paul Aston.
These last two suggest they are still in Birmingham.

I am not sure why they aren't on the censuses unless there are some incorrect transcriptions.

This is interesting - Fanny JAMES (widow ) = married William BROOKS 7 May 1877 at St Marks Church. Her father is William HANDS whose occupation is Castor.

There is a baptism for Mary Jane BROOKS in 1879 Parents William & Fanny.

In 1911 there is a Fannie BROOKS living with a William Henry BROOKS born abt 1877 in Tower Street. Could this Fannie's son ? Note variation of Fanny's name

Fanny HANDS marriage to Charles JAMES her is father William HANDS occupation was a Brass castor.

Re: FANNY Hands amarried to Charles James

I can't put Fanny in Priory Road......but will keep looking.........I have asked for the death certificate for Charles for 1888.......have a feeling its not him but we will see.
The whole of my James history is a mystery around the 1880s.
Thank you for your help.
