Hi, I am researching the Hancock family, Especially around 1870 to 1920. They lived in Little Green Lane, Bordesley moving to Millward st around 1900, they were Maria, Henry, Elisa, Minnie, Rosa. If any one has information I would be grateful if you would let me know. Also a bedstead packer?!! what is this? and which factory in bordesley carried out this sort of work around 1900??
 
Hello Les Hancock. I am sorry I can't help you with your Hancock family; but I had an uncle and aunt who lived in Little Green Lane, Bordesley - their name was Craythorne and I believe ran a pub there - do you recall the name or pub? Miriam
 
Hoskins and Sewell were bedstead makers on High Street, Bordesley. A lot of their work was for hospitals etc.

maria, harry and joseph edward hancock at 48 millward st. in 1920

in 1925 maria and harry at same address but joseph edward hancock is listed as living with john and mary davis next door at no. 50

in 1930 harry and annie may hancock are living 38 millward st.

in 1935 as above

in 1939 as above

in 1945 there is a rosa f j hancock living with margaret white at 75 hillaries rd erdington.

these are the minnie hancocks listed

1925 george edward and minnie hancock 7 court 14 bracebridge st.

1930 the above at 103 beauchamp rd. sparkhill

1935 thomas and minnie hancock at 433 bordesley green

1935 george edward and minnie hancock at 60 summerfield cres.

1939 the above at 28 monument rd.

1945 the above at 9 twyning rd.

1950 as above

hi miriam, was it the cricketers arms or is that a new name for the pub?
 
Morning Shera, thank you for your post - I have since been told that my uncles pub was called 'the greenway' on the corner of Greenway Street. and his wife was named Leah. Thats all I have.
 
hi miriam, in 1920 it was reuben and nellie craythorne living at 129 little green lane.

from 1925 on they were living 105 bishop st. :)

i see now that albert leonard and leah craythorne were living at 1 myrtle terrace, little green lane in 1930 and 1935

then 88 little green lane in 1939 and 1945

in 1950 they had moved to 228 coventry rd.
