Sparkhill Lad

Found this picture in my Grandmothers picture album and until now have not known how to show it to anyone who may be family.
Having benefited so much from this wonderfrul site I feel I must post it and give a relative a chance to see this.
It is a good photo that i think was ordered from the newspaper as was Grandma's way, and with is the cutting all stuck into this old book. Not sure of the date as she did not make a note of it but looks like early 50's would you say.
the cutting reads:
"Police Pensioner married at 72"
Mr William Hall, a 72 year old retired Inspector of Birmingham mounted police who lives at 5 corville Gardens, Sheldon, married Mrs M M Reading owner of a Dudley Millinery shop, at St. Edmund's church Dudley today. Mrs Reading, who is a widow is 69.
Mr Hall who is an official on midlands racecourses, served in the Birmingham mounted police from 1907-1932. Before he joined the force he was a lancer in the army and served as an escort to Queen Victoria in Dublin and this country. In a colourful police career he recieved the King's Police Medal after being shot when arresting an armed man at Small Heath."
Wow what a man he was, fantastic!
Anyway hope this has helped someone in some small way.
