Fire at Halfords.

I remember that fire well. I caught the 39 bus to go and watch it. Big mistake. I didn't tell my parents where I was going knowing they wouldn't let me. I lost track of time and when I eventually got home was I in for a ticking off. Bye. Jean.

An unusual postcard of Birmingham Fire Brigade emergency ladders and smoke helmets. The helmets look pretty basic with a bellows to pump through air. The firemen certainly were putting their lives on the line. I presume this is a staged photo, the little girl in the window appears to be very clean and tidy.

And a postcard of the Birmingham Fire Brigade 1910. You can just about make out a second engine with ladders to the left. Viv.
