H W Wards Lathe Makers, Selly Oak. Any ex Apprentices out there?

Just wondering if anyone might remember the days when the 7D Prelector was being developed, in 1963 and after, when I worked in the development shop in Selly Oak. It's been a while since I was on this website, and I may well have missed messages that relate to those times, but would be glad to hear from anyone I worked with. My oppo Dave Fox died some years ago, and of course Brian Queenborough and Martin Clee, I know have gone before, but maybe there's someone .... Peter Fraser

I started my Apprenticeship at Wards Worcester in 1972 and worked there until its closure in 1984

Yeah i remember Tommy Wilde...he was a Forman over the small build in the fitting shop. He was my foreman when i first came out of my apprenticeship, until I became a training instructor in the training centre in 1980.

Yea I also knew Bill Wilde too (I think he worked on the tool cutter grinder) ..AND..i was good friends with his son phil.

Lots of good memories.
