H. Miller & Co. Ltd. Aston Brook Street

My grandmother worked in a factory in Newtown Row during the first world war.  I think it was called Millers.  Does anyone have any further information?
 
Millers was in Phillips Street Aston very near to Newtown Row and manufactured cycle lights and dynamos

Thank for the information about Millers factory in Philips Street, Aston. Do you have any pictures of the factory itself?
 
I was tidying the garage today and came across several items from the 50s/60s which my uncle used to sell at Keight's bicycle shop, 143 Park Lane Aston.

When the shop was forced to close through compulsory purchase in the 60s my uncle moved to Cannock and took a lot of unsold stock with him from light bulbs to wall sockets, this motorcycle tax disc was one such item.

On researching H Miller I came across this excellent article about the company.


I've checked to make sure that H. Miller does not already have a thread, if it does please move this post.

Very interesting BL!

I had a Miller dynamo on and old Phillips bike. I bought the Miller because I was doing part time work after school and batteries did not last very long because I kept leaving the lights on. The Miller was the brightest I could find and never gave me any trouble!
 
I had forgotten the Miller name. I seem to recall it on many bits and pieces on bicycles - lamps, dynamos and bells. I remember bicycle manufacturer names but had forgotten the all important accessories.
 
My Dad who loved boot sales and going to the rag market in the 1950s. Got this H Miller lamp. oil lamp ( I think parafin?) from the 1800s 1900s?, that he gave to me in Brum many many years ago, I had him send this over to me in the USA and I have had this on my desks for years. On Ebay they get a good price but I will never sell it. Probably works!!! (Photo is to large for server???)
 
i lived next door to millers in aston.our garden backed onto the brook. the other side of the brook was the polishing shop.
many a weekend i would go for a mooch around the factory with the caretakers son who was my friend.1601226770609.png workers at Millers.
