H Harrison Coventry Road Small Heath

Hello.
Does anyone know of H Harrison, newsagent and tobacconist on Coventry Road, Small Heath? He was a relation in my Wife’s family during the 1960’s and 1970’s. We have a photo of the shop, curtesy of Veronica at Small Heath Library, whom we are very grateful to. We would like to know where this shop actually was on the Coventry Road. If anyone can help us, we would appreciate it.

Thank you very much for the information. My Wife thought the shop was opposite the park on the Coventry Road originally, but now, thanks to this information, we realise it was situated more the other end towards the Blues ground. Thanks again.

Yes - I tried to find it on a map but the numbering jumped. 38 seemed to be on the corner of Bowyer Street. Will post map of that later when I get laptop out.

Thank you one and all. Yesterday, we had no idea where this shop might have been. Now, thanks to the kindness of everyone, we have a picture of the shop and an address, even a telephone number. But I doubt anyone will answer it if I ring it, .
Will look forward to seeing the map.

There was a No. 40 in 1915 and seems to be on the No. 46 side of Bowyer Street. What's strange is that the building standing there today looks much older than the 1960s

With regard to the original poster, in 1955, 1956 Harry Harrison, newsagent was at 476 Covenytry Road. By 1962 it was V. Harrison , newsagent. This is almost opposite Langley road.

Apologies then if I caused confusion. I only looked in the 1960s as that was the date given in the post.
It does, however, still leave the puzzle of number 40 - doesn't it?

Here is a map from the 1950s whwere no 40 is absent.

There is no large scale numbered map available for around the 1930s, but is a rather crude smaller scale 1938 map (Much of the surveying done in the 1930s was destroyed by bombing). This shows that then no 38 was composed of two portions, presumably 38 and 40, as I have numbered them

Numbering adjusted on Clement Arms

I don't understand this Mike, what am I not seeing? on all of the Kelly's the Clements Arms is shown as No. 30 not No. 32.
