H.B.Oldacres,

HI, I'm trying to get hold of some photos of my Great Grand fathers shop which was known as "H.B. Oldacres" also any background information would be appreciated. I know it was some kind of hardware / builders merchants, my great grand father was called Hubert Owen Oldacres - I'm keen to understand the H.B.Oldacres as obviously that doesnt match his initials so I would assume its his fathers or perhaps an older generation.
I worked for HB on the Dudley Road Edgbaston 1964 for about 18 months

Wow, a lot to process. I'm trying to learn from my mistakes and throughly verify before moving forwards. Frustratingly slow but that said very rewarding when links are made.

Thanks ever so much for your help it makes me feel behind the curve!
Hello, I came across your post when researching my Owen family. I am a descendant of Walter Ernest Goddard Owen born 1875 a brother of Thomas Jabraz Howard Owen. I too am very confused about the Owen and Oldacre's names! A relative did tell me that they were aware that Walters mother Ann married an Oldacre. Walter left the Birmingham area 1895 when he enlisted in the Kings Royal Rifles. On Walters birth certificate his fathers name is John Owen but on his service record his next of kin is listed as Thomas Owen (Father), 6 Hutton Road, Warshwood Heath, Birmingham. Very confusing!!

I would be interested to hear of any break through you've made that can help me unpick this mystery.
Many thanks
