Grove Lane Swimming Baths, Handsworth

I used to go on Sunday mornings with my Father
8.00 am queue on the steps then go in

We were marched up to the bus stop by the Crown & Cushion and the teacher would pay the fair to Grove Lane Baths with tokens witch looked like plastic buttons. and occasionally we used to go to Kingstanding Baths.

I went to Astwell Preparatory School, started in Birchfield then moved to Hampstead Hill. I learnt to swim at Grove Lane around 1968.
