Griffin family in Ladywood

Hello everyone, I'm researching the Griffin side of my family in Ladywood. I've found some information on them through 19th Century censuses etc, but almost nothing for the 20th other than my fathers recollections.

Thomas Griffin (born 1822 in Leigh with Bransford, Worcestershire) and his wife Rebecca (nee Wood, 1819-1895, also from Leigh), moved to Birmingham probably around 1847. The 1851 census lists them at Dudley Road, All Saints. In 1871 they were at 63 Friston Street. They had the following children:

Ann abt 1846 (born in Worcester)
John abt 1848
Harriett abt 1848/1850
Emily abt 1850/51
William 1855
Eliza 1857

Of these John Griffin married Ann Hern in 1879. In 1891 they were living at 5 Back of 17 Leach Street, the 1901 census lists them in Rotten Park. They had the following children:

Alice R abt 1871
Emily Jane 1873
Annie abt 1878
Anthony Rudolf abt 1880 (married Annie Hart)
Oscar Richard 1883
Fanny Amelia 1885 (my father thinks she might have married a Hollins)
Thomas 1888 (married Annie, their daughter Beatty later married an Abe. Lived King Edward's Road Ladywood, & worked at Hercules Cycles)
William 1891
Beatrice 1894-1975 (my grandmother, married Albert Shelley of Stour Street in 1918)

That's all I have on the Griffins, if anyone can fill in some gaps I'd be very grateful. I've not been able to find any records of the following, but my father remembers they were strongly connected to the Griffin family:

Hollins family of Acocks Green. "Auntie Annie" Hollins was a half-sister to my grandmother Beatrice. She had twin boys and was very keen on photography. Possibly ran a fish stall in Birmingham market.

Ivy Patrick married Horace Robey and had a daughter Margaret. My father says she was definitely family related, but I've no idea how.

Many thanks everyone

John

Sorry I can't help with Glenise and Sheila's Griffins, but here's an update on my family research (all this is on my tree on Ancestry).

John Griffin (1847-1922) married twice, his first wife Alice Hern bearing three children I've traced before her death in 1879, namely Alice Rebecca 1871, Emily Jane 1873, and Annie 1878. John then married Alice's younger sister Ann Hern (keeping it in the family!) with whom he had six more children, as listed in my first post in this thread.

Of all these children I've discovered the following:
Annie Griffin (1878) married Price Patrick and had at least six children, the youngest being Ivy Patrick who my father remembers well. In 1911 they were at 9 Back of 37 Springfield Street, but by 1920 were living at 36 Stour Street, my family's next door neighbour.
Anthony Rodolph Griffin (1879) married Annie Hart who appears to have had 9 children, all in Birmingham, namely William 1903, Beatrice Alice abt 1905, Harold abt 1907, Annie Rebecca abt 1911, Oscar Richard 1912 (infant death), Edna 1914 (d.1916), Lilian M 1916, Thomas F 1920, and Nancy E I 1924.

Oscar Griffin (1883) married Beatrice Keziah Hodgkinson in Birmingham 1915, before joining the Oxford & Bucks Lt Infantry.

Fanny Amelia Griffin (1886) married Albert Hollins as mentioned in previous posts.

Thomas Griffin (1888) married Annie Canavan in 1914, their children were Hilda E 1915, Ivy A 1917 (infant death) and Beatrice A 1919.

My connection to the Griffin's is through Mary Pool she married William Griffin. 1914 they were living Wood Street Birmingham.

Mary's sister (my interest) was Annie Pool she was a muscian, married twice, 1st marriage was to Frederick Dowler one daughter Bessie Mina born 1888.
2nd marriage John Linehan a concert promoter and travelling showman.
Irish census shows Annie and John in Kilkenny with 2 daughters that we knew nothing about. Mina born 1897 England and Annie Lydia born Dublin 1906.

Annie died aged 49yrs (1914) at the home of Mary and William Griffins.
I'm anxious to know what happened to Annie's 2 daughters also John Linehan.

Regards jackie

Hi Jackie
I'm on both Genes Reunited and Ancestry.
John

Hi John, go onto Ancestry and Look in my Brennan Tree, it's a bit of a mess around the Woods, Griffins and Herns. I've duplicated and got the wrong pic on Rebecca but you'll find your way if you type in search: Rebecca Wood 1818 born Leigh with Bransford worcestershire
Marriage Wiiliam Wood 1845
Death 1895 Birmingham.
John Shelly has a lots of info his tree his name Shelley/Williams family
Come back to me if there's any problems opening my tree, it's a public tree so should be OK.

Good luck Jackie:)

Hi and thanks for your reply to my posting.
This can't be the John Linehan I'm researching because my John was born in 1871 and as far as I know he didn't have any male children just 2 girls Mina and Annie.
Regards Jackie.
