Great to see the old phone number preceded by the district (Victoria being Small Heath). Anyone answering the phone would probably say "Victoria 4681" . The same would have been for Shirley eg "Shirley 1234"
Smart Alec callers (Smart Alec - is that an old Brummie expression?) would often reply "Hello Victoria" or "Hello Shirley"!

The shop here is a marine store (secondhand clothes and who knows what) at 263 Green Lane, on the corner of Carlton Road (part of the sign for which can be seen in the photo). It is labelled 1911. The shop is listed in kellys as a marine store in the 1908, 1910 and 1912 editions, but not the 1904 or 1913 editions, In the 1908 and 1910 editions it is owned by Mrs Elizabeth Pinder, and in the 1912 editions by Miss Harriett Elizabeth Pinder, presumably her daughter. In 1904, when they possibly took the premises , it was advertised as suitable for a butchers or pawnbrokers, and had a stable.

I am trying to find my great grandfather Enoch Pinder who emigrated to Australia in 1912. The woman holding the baby is Florence Pinder his first wife and the baby was my Nan Florence May! Does anyone have any details on Enoch Pinder? Would love to know the circumstances of his emigration.
