GREEN ELLENb 1875

skylark

Proud to be a Brummie !!
I am hoping that the brilliant detectives on this site will help me to find ELLEN GREEN b 1875 in Aston. I have her living with her parents in 1881 aged 6. I am assuming that the Ellen Green aged 17, lodger,single, Press Worker on the 1891 census @ 159 Garrison lane is in fact the Ellen Green that I am chasing. She was a witness on the marriage cert in October 1891 of her brother William & she was still Ellen Green ( her brother & his bride also lived in Garrison Lane). Any help will be much appreciated....fingers crossed !!!!

Regards,
Margaret.

Re: Missing: ELLEN GREEN b 1875

Hi, there are two possible marriages I have found
1/ Bham JFM 1892 to Alfred Pumperry - found in 1901 census as Ellen Pumphrey born 1874 Bham
2/ Aston AMJ 1897 to Samuel Child - found in 1901 census as Ellen Child born 1875 Bham

Hope this may help

Re: Missing: ELLEN GREEN b 1875

Hi,can't be Ellen Pumphrey,as she is on census 10 years later aged 39,with husband Alfred,children and mother Catherine Green.
Could possibly be Ellen Child. 1911 sees her living at 156 St Benedicts Road,Small Heath with husband Samuel and children Ralph Samuel 11,and Daisy Ruth aged 4.
Births Jun 1907
Daisy Ruth Child Aston 6d 264
Births Jun 1900
Ralph Samuel Child Aston 6d 230

Re: Missing: ELLEN GREEN b 1875

Hello..yes I have discounted the Ellen Pumphrey being Ellen due to her mother being with her on the 1911 (wrong name)...also on the IGI I have found the marriage for the Child's but the father named for Ellen is not correct...so back to the drawing board..I have taken the time to look at all the marriages for Ellen Green on BMD but have failed to find a match..Grrrr !!!!

Thank you for your input.

Margaret.

hi skylark ;
around the fifties there was a pumphrey family living in farm street hockly they lived just around the corner next to a builders merchants
at that period there was nly one batch of maisonettes constisting of a block of three where one was on top of each other ;
the young sibbling went to ickneild street hockley brook he was a very huge lad i think it was health problems as he stuggled to walk really ;
this is early to mid fifties could be early ; it may be worth checking electro rolls for that period ;
best of luck ; astonian ;;;

Re: Missing: ELLEN GREEN b 1875

Thank you Astonian, but I now know that the Ellen Green I am tracing is not the girl who married Alfred Pumphrey in 1892.
