Great News For The Jewellery Quarter

We were pleased to hear about this well justified award. My wife's grandfather was a 'Seal Stone Engraver' on Vyse Street in the late 1800's and retired in the mid 1930's. He learnt this very skilled trade during his 7 year apprentice and then opened his own business after returning from servicing in the First World War in Ypres, Belgium and being wounded in his shoulder from schrapnel. All her family are proud that the Quarter have received this award well deserved

I love visiting the Jewellery Quarter but for one reason or another I’ve never been to the museum. It’s been closed for some time due to maintenance issues.

That is great news!
Why do these museums and some libraries keep closing for extended periods? It would seem that in a museum for example you would close off part of it and do the renovations and complete progressively. Or am I missing something?

That’s a pity, I’m in Brum tomorrow but not next week. Hopefully it’ll be an ongoing thing…..
