This was a long time coming, Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter has always been the best of the best, made up of generations of hardworking and artistic men and women who gave it the reputation it now has. I am delighted!
We were pleased to hear about this well justified award. My wife's grandfather was a 'Seal Stone Engraver' on Vyse Street in the late 1800's and retired in the mid 1930's. He learnt this very skilled trade during his 7 year apprentice and then opened his own business after returning from servicing in the First World War in Ypres, Belgium and being wounded in his shoulder from schrapnel. All her family are proud that the Quarter have received this award well deserved
I love visiting the Jewellery Quarter but for one reason or another I’ve never been to the museum. It’s been closed for some time due to maintenance issues.
