Thanks for sharing this map Lyn. My great aunt and uncle lived in Court 14 on Great Hampton Row from 1922 to 1938. I hadn't realised it was in Hockley which I have visited many times in recent years. I assume there is nothing left of the courts now?
 
thought i was imagining this sight today in gt hampton row...a very large king kong on a low loader o_O ...the building to the left is the newly refurbished gothic pub...it was pretty hectic around there so i decided not to ask any questions as to why it was parked there or where in gt hampton row it was going to be put or indeed where it had come from...

ha ha ...he may well have been mark if there were any pubs left around there..nice little mystery though...eventually we may find out why he was there..the men grappling with him seemed a little stressed so i thought it best not to shout over them :D

Great Hampton Row junction.

“This is the junction on the Soho Road tram services, with Constitution Hill to the left of the large advertising hoarding and Livery Street to the right. The tram tracks to the left in front of the Rover 14 Sports Saloon are those in to Great Hampton Row. This line was built by the Birmingham & Aston Company but, because CBT would not agree to steam trams running over the cable tracks from the town centre and along Constitution Hill, CBT leased the line and only operated from inside Great Hampton Row: although there was a junction. it was onlv used for access.” (H. There was a public execution in 1806 and quite nearby, but not actually on Great Hampton Row. Don't know if this was connected. See image below.

Great Hampton Row was also once known as Hay Barns Lane according to Showells Dictionary

Looking at this picture I would thinks it's a good guess it's dated around 1950 to 1960 the clue here is the image of a black child in the bottom right of the picture because around the time of the early 1900 the vast majority of people still never even seen a black person in in real life.
