Stitcher you can apply for a certificate on paper and send a cheque for £7 don't forget to include a self adressed stamped envelope. Include a contact number as sometimes if they are unsure they will ring you. Include as much info as you can, but not hearsay.
 
Icarus, yes that is she. Both her and her husband are dead and no children, according to the solicitor. Could I get these papers from the Reg. Office in Brum if I go there .
 
Hi Stitcher, you can certainly get the copy of the death certificate for Linda from Brum,as that's where she died.
The Marriage certificate for Daisy will have to be ordered and I'm not sure if you can order it at Brum,although they will probably have the forms there and you can fill it in and send it with a cheque. I usually do all mine on line,though.
 
Ladylinda, Icarus and bren, I posted previously that I had found my dads neice, now 77 and living in Casle Bromwhich, her name is Molly Collins. She has sent this through the post to me. Is it of any use in my quest.
 
Stitcher you can go in person to order a certificate but you will have to wait so maybe go and have a cup of tea while you wait. The register office has its own historian John Yates a very helpful man who I am sure many on here have had contact with. Good Luck Wendy.

Ladylinda, I really hope it helps to get more info on the family. I may go into town tomorrow about the certifiates. Molly collins said she will send me some photos over the net so I am looking forward to those.

Is this the marriage certificate I need to get/Ernest Gould - Daisy E Gardiner. 3rd qtr 1918 Blything 4a 233 ?4. Sorry to be a pain but this is all a bit beyond me.

Stitcher... With that info from Molly and what is on this thread, not sure we can help much more at the moment. Feel free to ask if there are more individual queries or if you need earlier census sheets posted.

If you don't have a family tree programme then I suggest you download one - like the free Family Tree Maker from Ancestry.co.uk or Legacy from https://www.legacyfamilytree.com/

Much better than bits of paper with scribbled notes! Start with entering your immediate family and then work backwards. You can print your tree or export it as a GEDcom file that will import into almost every other family tree programme, so you can pass the file around the family and upload to tree sites such as Ancestry or GenesReunited if you so wish.
 
Listen up. I went to the Registry Office today and got a death certificate , checked with insurance company and they assure me there is a sum of money waiting. I have posted a note, death certificate and a policy copy. This may come in time to get you three a drink on the night. If it doesnt I will have to use money from my pocket.
I also checked and got the address for the marriage certificate. I was told to send the details and a cheque for £7. I will do that and post them both tomorrow.

hi stitch. just been reading this thread of yours and just wanted to say how pleased i am that you have got a result arnt the people wonderful on this site. just one last thing am i right in thinking that you had ancestors in brearley st if so what year would it have been. i had ancestors living at number 16 on the 1871 census

Wales, I am quite good at most things but this family tree has got me beat. I have'nt got a clue when it was but I have read that someone in my crowd lived there. I am trying to put it all on paper in order. That way it will be a lot easier to digest. NO,silly I'm not going to eat it, I mean easier to look at and understand. if you look through the posts you might find it. I will let you know when I get to it.
 
Ladylinda. I have downloaded the family tree programme either bren or Icarus told me about. I now have to try and fill in the spaces.
 
stitch looks like in 1881 you had ancestors in brearely st and in 1871 in gt russell st which was off brearly. i had people in brearley in 1871 so who knows.... maybe they knew one another. i know what you mean about writing everything down. thats what i have to do with my family research then i read it over and over again just so as i can get it firmly in me head. its hard work but i find it so rewarding. best of luck with your research.

Wales, I have found a living relative. I have not met her yet but my step-brother told me about her and I gave her a ring. She is the daughter of my dads older sister, now dead. The daughter is 77 and she told me she attended my dads funeral. I told her I did not see her there and she said iin the past it was a volatile family, and dad divorced so he could marry my mom and that caused trouble in his family. Thats why she has never made contact before. Because of this trouble, dads brother who I never knew looked for my dad with a knife. My dad gave him a beating and got arrested. All this and I have only gone back 150 years.
 
Whist on this thread, are you BRAWoman or normal. What I mean is are joking because like me, you find it comical or are you being nasty like the others.
 
Did you download the Legacy programme Stitcher? That's the one I use and it's dead simple to add your relatives and build up the family in an easy to understand manner. If the bug gets you, you never stop adding to it - mine has over 4000 kin in it and still growing. :)
 
Icarus, yes I did. Thanks again for the help and info. This legacy thing looks a bit complicated to me but I suppose I will beat it finally.
 
Icarus, I now have the Marriage Certificate you said might be useful. If you are too busy I will understand.
 
Can any more be done?......................Loads!!!!! You can now go back even further! I've copied the info from an earlier post regarding Daisy's parents and brothers and sisters.I think the family tree was on Ancestry and belonged to a Paul Gardiner. That's another distant relative (living) that you could possibly make contact with!!!
