bren,My older step brother on Dads side is 88, he was born Mar.24 1920. I have found a female relative I didnt know I had. My dad had a sister whom I knew as aunt Dolly. She was a midwife and went about her duties on a pushbike. She is long dead but I have spoken to her daughter on the phone she is age 77 now and she is putting everything she has been able to uncover into an envelope and sending it to me in a few days. They live in Castle Bromwhich. She has more information than me so when I get it from her will you carry on helping me.

bren, If you are talking about my stepbrother again his first name is Ernest but I dont know if he has a middle name.

Right, i have found this birth -

Ernest H T Gould mmn Gardiner 1st qtr 1920 Birmingham 6d 714

This is a marriage that i think is the correct one as i did suspect he married elsewhere and not in Brum

Ernest Gould/Daisy E Gardiner 3rd qtr 1918 Blything 4a 2334

Blything is in Suffolk so it looks like they married and he came back to Brum before the birth, or at least she did :D

Thanks a million for that bren. I was told today by this female relative I found that my grandad on dads side was born in Turkey to British parents and when they came here they were turkish jews if there is such a combination.

Bren, I have found another document. It is for Yardley Cemetary 2nd Feb 1937 for the internment of a man named Drew. I had a stepsister named Drew but she is dead now. The payee was Dorothy Seal , 100 Tilton Rd Small Heathe. Should I post that on the other site?

Can you scan the document and put it on here and we will see what we can do now we seem to have sorted the rest out for you

bren

I had a stepsister on moms side. She is now dead her surname was Drew.

Hi Stitcher, there is someone on Ancestry with Daisy E Gardiner in their Family Tree, who married Ernest Gould.
Her parents were William Henry Gardiner 1855-1905 and Elizabeth Pitcher 1855-1917.
I think the owner of the tree is Paul Gardiner.

Ladylinda, thanks for the info. I really do not have a clue about all this. I suppose I have to donate to Ancestory to go any further with that one?

Stitcher, there's always someone on here that will do look-ups etc for you.It all depends what you want to do now!!!

Ladylinda, My older step relatives said it was not possible to trace the family very far back because of complications. I posted earlier that I have found dads sisters daughter. She is 77 and has been trying but has now given up. She said my grandad on dads side was born in Turkey to British parents and they were Turkish Jews. She is sending me all the information she has gathered over the years. When it comes I will post it on here and see if anyone can help.
Trevor.

In the 1901 census, there is a Henry Gould visiting the Pond family with his granddaughter at Barr St. He states that he was born in Turkey.

But in the 1891, living at New St Six Ways, he's listed as born in Smethwick!
His son Henry (23) is there.

Henry married Emma Mottram 2q 1890 6d 250 B'ham.

Icarus, does thismean that Turkey is as far as I can go on dads side of the family?

Yes bren her name Dorothy Drew, she is long gone now. When your message flashed up I was on the phone to my Step brother Benjamin Seal.

Icarus, I found out today that my stepbrother Ernest had a brother Joe who is now dead. I was a tipper driver for the firm that demolished Brearley St so if you do have the correct family, I probably helped to knock down the family home.

Stitcher. It would be a good idea to order Ernest & Daisy Ellen's marriage certificate now, using the details Bren supplied on p4.

Daisy Ellen Gardiner born 4q 1892 Blything ref 4a 863. So looks like Bren's hunch was spot on (see Brum ER's)!

On the 1918 absent voters' list, both Henry and Ernest are listed for 7 Howard Street...

Ernest Gould 20761 pte XIII Cyclist Bn. - so we know we have the right one!
Henry Gould 38068 pte 261 Pro. Co. R.D.C.

In the 1920 & 1925 ER's, Ernest is still living with his parents, Henry & Emma, in Howard Street - just a few doors away from our family home at that time! :) I assume Daisy Ellen would be there with him too but she would not be eligible for inclusion on the ER lists.

In 1930 and 1935, Ernest & Daisy Ellen were in Tynedale Road Acocks Green.

Daisy Ellen died 1q 1937 Birmingham ref 6d 587 age 41 (45?)

In 1939, Ernest and his new bride Dorothy Edith (Seal) were living at 66 Oakhill Crescent Hall Green.

There was a Joseph George Gould born 4q 1904 Birmingham ref 6d 101. This could be Ernest's brother Joe.

Icarus and bren, you do have the right family because my dad did live in Tynedale Crescent and I was born in Oakhill Crescent. Thanks a million to both of you.

Icarus or bren, How or/where do I apply for a copy of this marriage certificate. I also need a copy of Linda's deathe certificate but I dont know the date. She died in Birmingham and interned at Handsworth. How do I go about it.,

Hi Stitcher
If you go to the General Register Office on line at the address below
https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/
You then complete a registration form(really simple!)
then you can apply for a copy of the marriage certificate on-line using the details that Bren gave you, detailed below.
Ernest Gould/Daisy E Gardiner 3rd qtr 1918 Blything 4a 2334
If you get stuck, come back here for more advice!!

ladylinda, I will have to that when my son is here tomorrow because I dont have a cash card.
When my last brother died we found an old policy in the house. It was one my mom paid into for my sisiter. The solicitor checked it out and said it was live and there is an amount of cash to come from it. All I have been told is that it is not a life changing amount, but well worth claiming.Because I am the last true blood living it is mine. I need a death certificate to claim it. Can I get one from the same site on line.

I have already said I will do that as long as you dont come with a bus full of friends.

You Haven't told us Linda's full name. But I'm guessing this is her...

Linda Joy Abdulla (Gould) born 16 November 1945

Died Dec 1992 age 47 Birmingham vol 32 page 125

Is this correct?
