I am in search of the Gough's Arms Perry Barr/Aldridge.
Wikipedia says it was renamed the Beacon Arms:-
Here we are saying it was renamed the Boars Head

I have in my family tree Mountfort Clarkson 1789 to 1860 he was landlord of the Gough Arms at least between 1841 and 1851 according to the census. He is the Great Great Grandfather of Lt Cdr Simon Idiens Stepfather of Actress Kristen Scott Thomas and also a direct descendant of William the Conquer via the Montford family.
My family line is the goughs of perry barr and souldren

Hi I couldn't help but notice this online as I'm researching my family history my family line is the goughs of perry barr and of souldern . My ancestors go back to John gough 1300s on the on side of the gough branch and I believe I further still . I'm trying to find out more about my family in perry barr . My father also lives in great barr and I was born their also my family have lived in what was perry barr for generations. We had several family lines in and out the area being both goughs by blood and aireys but also boddisons and bridgers on my mother's side . I'm also trying to find information on my mother's father's side of the family . The bridgers originally from the Shropshire area but my grandad harry bridger I'm told lived in the area too with my grandma Ethel. All I really know about Harry is he was a silver smith and some of his work is supposed to be in the vaults at Birmingham history museum. If you could give me any info on the goughs and the area I'd be very grateful I'm aware of perry barr Hall and some of my ancestors that lived their but outside that I know very little about them .

Bea - I've moved your posts to our Surname Interests section. Our members are willing to help others find information they're looking for, but it would help us if you could make your query more specific.

Exactly what information about the Goughs are you interested in ?

Using our search facility (question mark at the top right of this page) may turn up some information as the Goughs feature in various discussions on this site. That might be a good starting point for you and could give a focus to your query.
