I am looking for information about the above family. Susanah Girling married James Walker and the seem to have spent most of their lives in the Brookfield Ladywood area. At the end of her life she worked for Vicar Smith of St Pauls cleaning house and church. I know the latter part of her life but other family ties would be interesting.
From what I hear vicar Smith probably has an interesting history.

Hi Alberta
Many thanks for that I had the census info but the batism date is another step down the ladder in the right direction

Susannah had a brother Edmund born 1851 baptised the same date as her,he married Ellen Masters in 1871 ST Judes, and died age 25 in 1876.there is a birth in Birmingham of a John Edmund in 1872 and in the 1881 census there is a John Edward Girling age 8 in the workhouse Western road.I think Edmunds widow married in 1878.
There was also a sister Isabella b. 1855 baptised 1856.
She married William Peters 25th December 1872 St judes she died in December 1880 age 25.
Possibly why the young grandaughter is with the Walkers.

Hi Alberta
In one day you produced more info about the above family than I have managed to collate in the past year. I am trying to locate the baptism of Susannahs husband James Walker born 28th November 1854 to John Unett Walker and Sarah Walker ind the Ladywood District. There is some suggestion that the Walkers may have been catholic. If you do have a crystal ball help would be appreciated

Its helps to have a good team with you some nights my eyeballs seem to spin round like the display of a one armed bandit. I though I had got the Girling side sussed in that he married late to a widow. Then I find he had married before and a member of that line of the family contacted me to help me update the family tree. Likewise Walker is a common name but I am looking for Unett Walkers but I have only seen that name on my g grandfathers birth certificate. The Walker of that name always records himself as John Walker. I think if the webring helps one to preserve ones sanity its well worth supporting
