Ghost signs of Birmingham

I'm always on the lookout for older signs hidden (and often preserved) underneath ugly plastic modern-signs. Especially when renovation projects are being undertaken. The positive of all that, of course, is they're most likely to be covered over again with another ugly sign and life goes on for the hidden sign underneath !

Trouble is Viv you need to be quick. There was another shop in Shirley on the other side of the road which had a sign uncovered. (Not as old as Durham's - another one I remembered). I couldn't stop and when I went back next day it was covered up again.
Took pics of Durham on way to church so road relatively quiet - and free parking lol.

This one is opposite Moseley Church on St Mary's Row. It's for "Lillian Fr... Hosi(ery?) Han(kerchiefs?) Needl(es?)" partially covered by a later building on Church Avenue (now a narrow passageway). There could be an earlier sign beneath this one, I think I can see a capital letter 'D' above 'Need...'

It's such a shame when these get built in front of and then weathered over the years. Inevitable I suppose.
