George JONES

Marney

proper brummie kid
Please can someone find a burial for my gt gt grandfather George JONES pin maker. At the time of the 1841 census he was in Wa[?]f Street in the St Thomas district aged 60. He may have been buried in St Thomas or St Martin's. His children were all baptised in St Martin's and I think his wife was also buried there. He does not appear in the 1851 census anywhere. Thank you Marney.

Hi Marney

I go to the Birmingham Reference Library fairly often and i am likely to be going sometime in the next week. I have noted the above details and will have a look for you. I'll let you know.

Regards

Steve

Hi Marney.

I went to the Library yesterday. I had half an hour left of my planned stay. I started to wade through St.Martins' burials, there are thousands, hence i only managed to trawl through 1841. There was no trace of George.

I will look further as and when i go. I think, to narrow down the search a bit i will note down all the George Jone's on the death records of Frebmd 1841 to 1851 and only look at the burials for the quarters and years relevent. Bare with me.

The age doesn't qute fit but there is a George Martin age 50 of Lawley Street buried 27th March 1842 at St Martins.

Hi Steve

Will it help if I send you all the deaths for George JONES [1841-1851] from Free BMD?
Regards
Marney

It's ok Marney i will be able to print off all the deaths shown for Warwickshire 1841-1851 myself. I'll concentrate in particular on the Birmingham, Aston, Kings' Norton listings and disregard the rest. A big task though. You'll have to bare with me.

Steve

Thank you Steve
I think that George was probably buried in Birmingham so that would be a good place to start.
I do appreciate your help and the time you are giving to my problem.
I have another George JONES on my maternal side. He died in Herefordshire when a tree fell on him in 1866!

Regards
Marney

Hi Steve
I haven't heard for sometime and wonder if finding the buial of George JONES is an impossible task. I know so little about this man that his burial would, at least give me something. Hoping to hear from you
Marney
