Have you looked at the actual census yourself Josie, sometimes the words are transcribed wrongly, I can't find Ganley either, could it be Galway?
If you can put a scan of the census on here, you can see wht others think it says too.

Tthe best I've found so far is a john booth and a mary hughes married in birmingham in1953. Would that be them, if it is when did she move to england?

that i dont know i have been trying to find her and her father daniel on 1851 on the cenus she married john booth in 1853 so she must have come to england prior to 1853

There is a Daniel Hughes born 1806 on the 1851 census ,working as a Farm servant in Lea Marston (between Coleshill and Kingsbury) he is married and comes from Armagh.

What is Daniels occupation on the marriage certificate?

On the original copy of the 1861 census it says John Booth b. Ireland Dublin
Mary booth b. " Ganley.

Still drawing a blank with Ganley Josie, it's not listed in the atlas and gazeteer at libraryireland, so have no idea where else to look.
I have posted it on my Reddy clan site, just in case one of the Irish members can shed any more light on it.

There is a 12 year old mary hughes born in ireland living in birmingham in the 1841 census that might be worth checking for more info. That would make her around 24 when she married.

if by chance someone finds out where ganley is i will be gratful for info
