Hi, I don't know whether this has been mentioned before (I used the search engine and couldn't find anything) but there's a really good 6 part documentary available on 2 dvds called 'From ATVLand In Colour'. It covers the history of the ATV centre in Birmingham from its opening to demise. There are clips from loads of old programmes (Tiswas, Angling Today, ATV Today etc. ) and interviews with the likes of Chris Tarrant, Bob Warman, Wendy Nelson, Reg Harcourt, Jane Rossington and of course, Jim Bowen. There's also some great pictures of Birimngham City Centre during the ATV Centre consruction. It's made by fans of TV for fans of TV, and is available from the Media Archive for Central England, or Amazon if you prefer.

Well worth a watch...although there's hardly anything on sports broadcasts- I was hoping for a clip from 'Star Soccer' from the 70s- remember Star Soccer on Sunday afternoons? They always had the Davenport's 'Beer at Home' ad during the break, as well as the West Midlands Safari Park ad with the music from Van der Valk. Memories!

Hi Radleys. This might also be of interest too - well it stirred many memories for me as did Robs ATV's Star Soccer tune.Viv.

Sorry don't seem to be able to get the link to go blue, if you get my drift! But well worth a look. Viv.

Thanks Rob and Viv- listening to the Star Soccer theme really brought back some memories of happy Sunday afternoons, rushing Sunday dinner to get in to watch the football. From what I remember, a typical Sunday Viewing would be 'Weekend World' at about midday (ish), followed by 'The Invaders' (with Roy Thinnes), and then Star Soccer. I'd love to see that 'beer at home means Davenports' advert again- the one with the little bottle dancing along the top of the words...well, it looked like a very little bottle on our 20 inch TV set!

Viv, the Transdiffusion website looks really interesting. I think my evening's reading has just been sorted out!!
regards, jerry
