Re: Margaret Matilda Francis and Family

I'm working back,, takes a little time (got to have a cuppa soon, too!)

Re: Margaret Matilda Francis and Family

I ws assuming that Margaret Matilda was George Richard Francis' wife, but I can't find a suitable marriage to fit. If that were the case, her maiden name might be one of these:
Bresenine; Davies; Layton; Carr; Lambert.
I can't find them instantly in the 1911 or 1901 census, either, but they must be there somewhere (or abroad??)

Re: Margaret Matilda Francis and Family

Thanks will start looking into those names, thanks youv'e been really helpful.:)

Re: Margaret Matilda Francis and Family

I keep drawing blanks now, 1940s is too new to have census help, nearet available is 1911 and a lot can happen in 30 years.

Re: Margaret Matilda Francis and Family

You are so right tying to bridge the gap from 1920 back to census is really difficult I'm the same, keep coming up with blanks at the moment too.

Re: Margaret Matilda Francis and Family

Hi there, I think it may be wise to send for at least one of the certificates that Lloyd has given the details of in #3. There will be at least father's names on marriage certs and ages and occupations. It may be a tad easier to work backwards then, with more positive results.
I've had alook in the 1911 and nothing seems to match at the moment!

Re: Margaret Matilda Francis and Family

hi i think you're right i will get one of the certs so to get more info thank you all :)
