found mt great grandad's grave

master brummie
hi all
I justed wonted to let everyone know that i have managed to locate my greatfathers grave with the help of my sister and the staff at handsworth cem.
After spending an hour wondering up and down the graves in what we thought was the right plot we gave in and asked the staff in the office.
After being pointed in the right direction my sister and i found the finale resting place of our great grand father william morrall.
To be honest i was very touched and had a tear in my eye (silly i know) but for me its nice to know where he is buried and to pay my respects.

That's lovely Celia..I had the same reaction when I found my grandparents grave last year even though I never knew them.. it is a really strange feeling ..well done for finding them
Maggie

Well done Celia & Maggie I'm sure they would be proud to know that you haven't forgotten them.

I must admit it was a delight to see Maggies face the emotions etc :)and as someone who had no interest in graveyards etc it has become second nature now to go mooching! round cemeteries trying to find one particular grave then maybe finding other links in the same cemetery I enjoy if thats the right word doing it now its a bit like a detection story:)

hi otherhalf
yes i think thats what it is detective work
its like trying to put a big jigsaw puzzel together
we visit these grave not only because thats where our ancesters are buired and we would like to pay our respects
but also in the hope that their final resting place holds that bit of information you been searching for to put the last bit of the jig saw puzzel together

Celia here is the one we were looking for it was buried in deep undergrowth and after falling down several er holes of varying types we eventually found it in the pouring rain Maggie looked like a drowned rat!:D

where are you a jungle rain forest lol
i know what you mean by falling down a few holes we did it several time today
went hunting under holy bushes and all sorts or forna and flora and got covered in mud for good mesure
but what made me laugh is when i did find great grandad's grave i let i a squeel and half a dozen heads poped up to see what the fuss was all about lol
but all that mooching and tramping about was worth it

Celia I know exactly what you mean I was the same when I found my gt grandparents grave at Key Hill Cemetery, even though we never knew them they are in our hearts.
I have had a shock this week as there is a lovely man with help from others doing memorial inscriptions at Key Hill. One of the volunteers has sent me the inscription from my gt gt grandparents grave which is no longer visable!
