Hi my name is Mike and I have been trying to find out where my Grandparents lived in Ford street.
They were John Aquila Jackson & Mabel Jackson nee Lovell. They lived at 4 back of 11 Ford Street but I don’t know where it is on the map of Ford Street. I would be grateful if you could help me find it please as there is no one Alive to guide me on this. Many thanks Mike.

Here you are Caroline, no 19 in red. Map is 1950, so numbering would be the same

Thank you so much I really appreciate the photo and info. Thanks again Mike
Hi Carolina thank you for getting in touch with me, I have just re-read your message and wow I didn’t pick up on the fact that you were Moms friend from Ford Street.
I don’t know if your aware but Mom passed away on 16th December 2011 from Lung Cancer. Nan Mabel passed away in 2015 just before her 103rd birthday.
Grandad John passed on 7th December 1988 at home in bed at Walsall.
Thankfully I still have my Aunty Sheila who lives in Blakedown and is still going strong as usual. I’m sorry for mis reading your original message but I find it difficult to read and write and speak correctly after I had a Stroke on 7th December 2021. ( had. Subarachnoid haemorrhage, Hydrocephalus, Vasospasm & Secondary Stroke which left me with Aphasia and Dysarthria speech impediments. I am making progress but it’s been hard going over last 18 months.
Mom & Dad both taught me to get back on my feet when life knocks me down. I know my Nan Mabel was a stubborn character who had a strong personality which I have had passed down to me and that’s where I get my pig headed stubbornness from.
Sorry for going on a bit but I do appreciate you reaching out to me.
Best regards
Mike Turbill.
Ps I would love any stories about my Mom from when she was a child.
I do have some photos from when Mom was a child when she was in a parade but I don’t know much about it except that Nan Mabel made her costumes.

The Pawn Shop was called Raybone’s My Aunty Sheila Told me this yesterday. Sheila used to be Sheila Jackson who lived at 4 back of 11 Ford street with my Nan Mabel & Grandad John and my Mom Wendy Jackson. Sheila just passed her 88th Birthday last week. She was telling about the Bus Station being Bombed during WW2 and that My Mom & Sheila played in the rubble when they were kids. Sheila told me the bus station was targeted as it had been identified as a target of interest by the German Airforce.
She also told me that no 7 Ford street had a bomb dropped in it which was unexploded. Two of the neighbours tried to disarm it and my grandad and another neighbour went to get help and when they came back the bomb detonated killing the two men in the house.

My great grandparents Harry and Ada Parlett lived at 7 Ford Street and my grandad was born there
I was talking to Sheila Jackson ( who lived at 4 back of 11 Ford street )yesterday and she told me about the bomb that went off in your grandparents house at No 7 ford street.
My Grandad John Jackson and a neighbour went to get help ( ARP’s ) and two men stayed behind as the bomb was unexploded at the time it was dropped. Unfortunately the two men tried to stop the bomb but were severely injured including one losing a lower leg.

Nan Mabel had a really long life which attribute to her strength of Character surviving WW2 and the time after the War. I think she was shaped by the death of Her Dad, Lance Sergeant Alfred Lovell in Galipoli after he was Shot and died from his wounds in The Field Hospital in 1918. Nan Mabel went with Auntie Sheila to see his grave many years ago. Its hard to believe that Nan Was born in 09/11/1912 nearly 8 months after the RMS Titanic sank in The Atlantic Ocean.

She was a fabulous dressmaker and knitter. She made a couple of dresses and cardigans.
