found it..it was the salutation corner of constitution hill and summer lane...this is a pic of the other sally in alma st but gives the story of it...will post the other salutation.
you know what mossy...i bet summer lane was just great in those days....some say a rough place but from what ive read about the lane everyone stuck together and helped each other out....
Mossy,
The words from the summer lane song are..."every Saturday night there's a jubilation you can see them dancing in the Salutation".
Sorry to be fussy, but my mom taught me the song when I was a little squirt.
Bottle throwing was an American habit,The pubs in the city wouldn't serve them with bottles.ancedancer08:.
i guess it was mossy but its just the sense of community spirit when the going got tough that i admire so much...i well remember it from my own childhood..
Ray if you look on The Summer Lane Kids website the late Brian's see the the palm trees swaying it says see the dancing in the Salutation and he should know so there are different versions but i bet Brian's is correct
Hi everybody,it have been pubs ran by exfootballers in Brum, round Derby
they went into sub postoffices , when I was a collections driver Ive had many a chat with Harold Bodel the old Blues,he always gave up a wee
dram at Christmas, at one time he left his wife to the office, it was only a
small one and went off to manage Burton Albion, the old chairman there
treated H like a son, David Nish also had a subpostofice as did Henry Newton and Kevin Hector works at DMO as a delivery postman.
Perhaps we could have thread whatever happened to ######?
