Hi All,

Who can tell me which British football team was the first to play in the final of a European cup competition?

I think I know this Old Boy - Celtic in 1967
but only because it was a tie break question in our local club quiz last month!!
 
Thanks for the link Alf, am quite proud of myself remembering that, usually football stuff goes in one side and out the other - wrong shaped balls for me lol.Guess it could be because we lost the tie break for 2nd place cos we didn't know it but unfair we decidd as the team against us is half scottish!

Hi All,

Sorry for the delay. Beamish was quite right. Birmingham City played Barcelona in the final of the Inter Cities Fairs Cup in 1960. They were the first British team to reach a European Cup Final. Congratulations to Celtic who were the first British team to WIN a European Cup Final.
