Food for thought

mw0njm, I wonder how many recipes there are for pickled onions Here's mine that I've been using for many years:

Cover the onions in boiling water and allow to cool (this makes them easier to peel).
Soak the peeled onions in brine for 24 hours to remove the excess fluid and help retain their crunch.
Pack tightly into jars.
Cover with good pickling vinegar, bought or home-made.
Add some dark brown sugar to taste. I like them fairly sweet and more mellow.
Leave for at least a month.
Enjoy!

White pudding, when we lived in Plymouth used to buy it from a butcher's in the market as Hogs pudding. Meanwhile in North Devon in Braunton we used to have a champion black pudding maker.

Bob I don't want to rain on your parade about black pudding we buy ours from Martin Thomas butchers in a little vile named Pattingham he has his own site . I have been told that due to the score of 100% in Germany he can no longer compete, doesn't say much for their blutwurst does it ?
