Can anyone confirm the dates the Court houses on Floodgate street were built please and if the homes were connected in anyway to the businesses or privately rented. My Brooks(es) ancestor Joseph Brookes lived there throughout the 60 census years. Court 5 no 9 house.
Also please does anyone know the date the railway viaduct was built there?

The first mention in the newspapers I can see of the viaduct is Feb 1847, not sure if it's talking about planning or completion.

The viaduct is not on the 1839 map and the buildings about where it is don't look the same, so I'd guess the court would have been built after the viaduct.
 

Floodgate St

My Great Aunt was born at 'back of 88 Floodgate St' in 1881. Would anyone have any images, or know where I might find some, of Floodgate St at around that time?

Hi many thanks. the court was definitely present in 1841 so I am sure the family would have had a few noisy years then During the building work.

From "History of the GWR Vol1" by E.T,McDermot. The works were started by Messrs Peto & Betts in early 1847, In August 1849 Brunel reported that, though progress was very slow, the viaduct into Birmingham had been completed
