There are 2 entries for deaths of a James Flavell

September 1875 Aston age 47 reference Volume 6d page 326
March 1881 Birmingham age 59 reference 6d 146
These ages would make James a bit older than Emma

Sophia Alice flavell registered Sept 1871 ref. 6d 333

the only marriage that I found to an Emma was to Emma Green in Dudley,
Worcestershire in 1867 ref. 6c 69

Given the gap in the girls ages and the fact that 2 entries for deaths are of older men perhaps it could be them and it was James 2nd marriage
Sophias birth certificate will have emmas maiden name.

Contact the General Register office for advice on how to obtain certificates.

Re: Looking for missing gggrandfather. Flavell

Hi,

I was searching for any old posts on the surname Flavell, and came across this post. I realise this was written a few years ago, so may not be relevant to you now?

However, I believe you were looking for the marriage of a James Flavell and an Emma? My GGG grandfather is James and he married an Emma Hooper in . I have marriage certificate etc.. If you would like any further details let me know. Their daughter was Sophia Flavell.
