Finding Ivy House (Summerfield Park) Birmingham

hi debi i am so pleased that you managed to visit and see inside ivy house at least you have done that...sad to know that the bandstand is not in good shape but i am afraid that after over 100 years we live in a different world now and areas are just not as nice as they used to be...as you say lets just imagine things as they were and of course we do have some old photographs to fall back on..thanks for letting us know how you got on with your visit

Given that the old bandstand is mainly brick built I think (and hope) it will, in time, be restored (or at least maintained). Like all these things, it's a matter of funding. With other priorities for funding in the present economic climate, sadly such projects are low on the list of priorities. At least it's built of brick, so has a better chance of surviving until it can be restored.

Pity there isn't a Friends group that can at least keep it clean and tidy.

The Lightwoods Park bandstand is listed. I'd have thought the Summerfield Park one deserves listing too in view of its pretty unusual design.
