Hi,

Would love help finding any info. on the Inkeepers/Publicans in Birmingham. Looking for my G.G. Grandad = Henry Farmer (approx date of birth is 1820s - 1830s, could be earliear, but not after 1845) His son was also called Henry Farmer, he was a blacksmith, born in 1855, and married to a Maria McCracken in March 1885 in All Saints Church, Kings Heath. Perhaps his dad, Henry was baptised in the same church? Don't have a clue of his mum's name, despite trawling through a lot of census returns for 1871/61. Help! Thanks v. much for any assistance. Sarah.

Re: Henry Farmer Publican, son Henry Farmer born 1855

Don't know if this is of interest or not. Certainly, although he is listed in the directories as publican, he is not so listed in the 1851 census, though could have been so described in 1855

1845 Henry, pearl button manuf. 30, 8 wharf st,Lawley st
1849 Farmer Henry, pearl button manuf. 30 (court 1), Lawley st. house, 8 wharf st,Lawley st
1851 Farmer.Henry brewer, 12 duke St
1855-58 Farmer Henry , beer retailer, and pearl button manuf. 72 Duke St
1862 Farmer Henry , pearl button manuf. 108 Barr St

In the 1851 census he is just described as a pearl button maker (32 but not sure if 3 is a 2), born Ince , Tamworth, Staffs, with wife Phoebe (22) and niece Sarah Ann Hart who is described as a pearl button (maker?)
Unfortunately in 1862 he is at 108 Barr st with Phoebe (though ages afe a bit out) but with only 2 daughters, aged 19 & 4, No Henry, so likely it is not one you want
