Family Graves Rights And Responsibilities.

Can anyone give me some advice please. We have a number of old family graves in different Birmingham Cemeteries. Is there a method of advising the cemetery authority of your interest in the grave? I understand that there may be a need to cover old graves and reuse the areas (as deeds expire and owners cannot be found) but I would at least like to be informed. I have asked the question (email) of Handsworth regarding Key Hill but cannot obtain a reply. If my memory is correct there is a 70 year figure after the last internment when a right to bury is lost. I have a deed, by inheritance for a grave that is in the 70 year period but have not had a reply about that yet. Any knowledge? Dave

If you email them someone might be able to help you. They hold records about Key Hill Cemetery and also Warstone Lane Cemetery.

Thanks. I emailed Handsworth a few months ago and followed up with reminders. Perhaps extended patience is the way. I'll leave a few more weeks!!!
