When the Library was new. Carnegie was thanked - he contributed £5,000 to the building's construction.

As mentioned, this was opened by Erdington U.D.C. to be inherited by Birmingham in 1912. Similar to on the south side when BHam also inherited the Kings Norton & Northfield U.D.C. libraries. Birmingham has never had a good record of library provision or of maintaining what it has. I won't even mention the current on going crisis..........
