Emigration from Birmingham to New Zealand and ANZACs

My Great Uncle Jack, (John Shaw) b.1890 and Great Uncle Tom (Tom Shaw) b.1900 emigrated to New Zealand. Jack must have emigrated around 1910 and came back with the ANZACs and was killed in France in 1916. Tom also joined the ANZACs. He may have travelled to New Zealand during the war and enlisted or enlisted in the ANZACs in the UK. I believe it was possible. We have photos of him training in Egypt and a letter from the sister of friends to say he was in France. He returned to New Zealand and died in the 1980s. His only daughter predeceased him and his wife.

I have been reading on emigration to New Zealand, and it seems that most of the emigrants from the UK were from rural areas, where emigration agents operated. Does anyone know of such agents operating in the Birmingham area? I guess my uncles may have had contacts with relations from rural areas who may have also emigrated. I haven't been able to find any publications on emigration from the Birmingham area to New Zealand. I had no luck with the New Zealand sites on boat arrivals in New Zealand. I have the details of Jack's career in ANZAC in a letter sent by the New Zealand government when he died, but I have no details on the army career of Tom, who survived.

Any help welcome.

Many thanks,

John
