Ellis Annie (born 1860/1)?

leslam

Brummie by marriage
If anyone has 'lost' Annie Ellis, born Birmingham in 1860/1, I have her in my tree!

Although she married in London, in 1891 census, she says she was born in Birmingham, but I haven't found her birth.
Her father was Thomas Ellis, watchmaker. He died sometime between 1874 and 1887
Annie's brother, James (born 1850/51, supposedly in Islington according to 1891 census), also married into my tree!

Re: Anyone lost Annie Ellis (born 1860/1)?

Hi Les

I wonder if she could be Sarah Ann Ellis even though she married as Annie and census says Annie? The 1861 places her (Sarah Ann) and family (father Thomas a Watch finisher) in Islington.

Oh Suzanne, hadn't thought about that. Her sister-in-law was a Sarah, so maybe Annie just dropped the Sarah when that wedding took place in 1874

Could well be Sarah Ann; there are three born in that time-period that would fit the bill (Aston, Kings N and Birmingham) + one born in Islington! However, I don't think it can be that one why on earth would she make up being born in Birmingham?

Wedding witness was George Ellis, so that might help me too.

Thanks for the new lead - I'll try try to track though some of them. For some reason, I am drawn to Sarah Ann Jennings Ellis reg Birmingham Q2 1860 ......

Hi Les

Yes I was drawn to the Jennings one. I think she was born Bham though as she has siblings born Bham too doesn't she.

Hope the lead is successful:)
