Elizabeth Latchford

rowan

Born a Brummie
In 1851 Elizabeth Latchford is listed as a SHOP KEEPER at 36 Woodcock Street Aston Nr Birmingham.

I can't find her after this date??? and was wondering if she had married and was still a shop keeper in her married name.

Sorry if I haveposted this in the wrong section

There is this marriage, but whether its her or not is another thing.

Thank you Barrie.

I have looked at that one and I don't think she is the one who had the shop.

I shall keep digging :D

I looked at the 1851 and found the one that you have been looking at. Have you noticed that it says that she is "the wife".
Wife to whom?

Mrs T............that is THE question!!:|

It's "doing my head in" (to quote a modern day expression)!

There are so many Latchfords with the same Christian names

Sarah Elizabeth James Joseph william Edward, names that have passed down the generations.........why couldn't they have had an Eli or Enoch or
Adolphous!! :D

Thank you Mrs T for looking. I will have to keep diging 8)

Chris, in 1851 she was listed as aged 30 and living at 36 Woodcock St.

In 1841 she was living at Wright Cottages Perry Barr aged 20.

As this makes her born about 1821 I can't confirm parentage :D

We are pretty sure she is one of ours but to whom!!!:Aah: :Aah: :Aah:

Sorry to be a pain Rowan, but who else was in the 'Households' with her in 1841 and 51 ? This info' could help track her down

That's just it Chris..........she was the only person there in 1851!!!! :Aah:

In 1841 there were 6 people living at Wright Cottages , Robert Butts age 45, his wife age 55 (can't make out her name), Elizabeth, William Butts age 15, Robert Butts age 12 and John Butts age 9.

I've just had a thought  maybe Robert's wife is Elizabeth's sister ???.

You have set me thinking now Chris:) All I have to do is try and make out the name from the copy I have:rolleyes:

Magnifying glass out me thinks!!

Thanks again for your input Chris, I am most grateful.

I'll let you know if I can make sense of the census.

Rowen, I have done a bit of searching for your Latchfords and come up with nothing:Aah: But, the wife of Robert on the 1841census is Jane , BUT his name is I think Berk/Burk, it is transcribed as Berk by Ancestry, Family search shows Robert BURK marrying Jane Ashfold in Feb 1824 at St Phillips. so she can't be Elizabeths sister can she.

ROBERT BURK
Event(s):Marriages:
Spouse: JANE ASHFORD
Marriage: 01 FEB 1824 Saint Phillips, Birmingham, Warwick, England

Now here's a thouht :Aah: Could that mean to read Latchford not Ashford ...Transcription error as in Rowan reading Butts for Burk.

Oh........................HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!:|

These bloomin' Latchfords are begining to be a real pain, what with Elizabeth not being traceable after 1851 and James who went Ireland married there had his kids there and came home so that we can't trace his wife or the marriage :surprised::whip::grrrrrr::grrrrrr:

Oh well keep pegging away rowan and see what you can find:(

Thanks Chris and thanks to you Di.

Here we go.................head down and SEARCH:rolleyes:
