E.r.fenn butchers, nechells

is there any information about my nans brothers butchers shop in nechells.
edwin ronald fenn (known as uncle ron- his dad was also called edwin)and his wife maud ran their butchers shop on the corner of nechells park rd and aston church road on a site which is now a childrens playground
my dad visited it as a youngster which places it post ww2 probably 50's/60's
would there be any photos of this street, showing the shop frontage still in existance?

edit : i have a photo of edwin ronald fenn from rangoon 1945 so although i do not know for certain i am guessing the shop was established post war

I used to go to Fenns every Saturday for the Sunday joint.
That would be in the years 1947-1953, I can vaguely remember about 3 men serving in the shop, he knew my mother and would always give her a deal, knowing she was a widow with 4 kids to bring up, of whom I was the eldest.

it was a butchers shop prior to E.r.fenn taking over, according to Kelly's 1937/37 and he continued till 1973/74 I have no Kelly's after this date but by looking at the road at this time it looked like it was under demolition

The Fenn,s I remember from the early fifties ,was further up Nechells Park road next to Wimbushes the cake shop which was on the corner of Trevour St.Going towards the city there where a group of shops the cake shop,next Fenn,s or the greengrocers and then a grocery shop which sold butter from a barrel loose.next set back from the road was the methodist hall ,where I went to Girl Guides and Brownies.The minister was Mr Howarth ,a welsh man.The man who I thought was Mr Fenn was rather a dapper little man with a moustache , and he always wore a stripped apron .He was my Nan,s regular butcher and in those days with no fridge we shopped every day. regards Polly

Forgot to mention in my first post, that The shop was not on the corner of Aston Church Road, it was as Polly says next to Wimbushes which was on the corner of Trevor St.
Fenns was no 82 and Wimbushes was 83, it was about 20 shops before the swimming baths which is on the corner of Aston Church Road (and still there).

Hi all, not sure if you are still following this but there is a wonderful picture of E R Fenn's butcher shop along with Wimbush, the Methodist Church and the New Inn on a new thread called "New Nechells and Aston Photos". Well worth a look!
