Dugmore Thomas & family

rowan

Born a Brummie
I have been looking at my Grandfathers family and I have his sister,
ADA CLEGG marrying THOMAS DUGMORE in 1905 in West Brom.

I have found some children on freeBMD all born Aston

Winifred b. Sept 1912 mother Clegg
John C. b. June 1914 " "
Joan b. June 1916 " " Twins
Margaret b. " " " "
Bernard b. Sept.1919 " " Twins
Samuel b. " " " " "

The questions are.........
Were there more chidren born before 1912 as surely there must have been?
Where were they living in Aston?
Is there anyone out there that have these children in their family tree?

I would love to find descendants of any of this line as I know so little of my Grandfathers,George Clegg, family. I know, from researching, that he had several brothers and sisters.
Some of their great great descendants must still be around Brum?

In 1891 George Clegg was living with his family at 2 Williams Buildings Aston and I think they were still there in 1901.

George Clegg.
Mary Ann Clegg.(nee Stafford)
Catherine Clegg. (I believe she is really a Stafford)
Ada Clegg.
Thomas G Clegg.
George Clegg. (my grandfather)
were there anymore brothers and sisters?

Thank you for reading this.:)

In 1920 Ada & Thomas Dugmore were at 61 Cranemore st (which was off Cattells grove and was about where Dunton industrial estate is now). There were three Thomas Dugmores on the electoral roll in 1912 at 357 Camden st, 80 Grosvenor st west and 62 station road, harborne and a Henry Thomas Dugmore at 92 Lodge road.(women did not have the vote in 1912).
Ada was on the rolls alone at 61 Cranemore st in 1925. but had gone by 1930 .
Williams buildings are on Trevor street , which Cranemore street runs off. I will try and position the relevant buildings

Re: Thomas Dugmore & family

Hi Rowan if your related to the family from 357 Camden st... Then we could have a connection through marriage.... Because my Joseph came from Camden St :)

Attached is a map from 1916. 61 Cranemore st is the building in red. . Williams buildings I think must be those in blue, though, according to the census they go from 1 -20 and there only appear to be 17 on the map. Possibly some were sundivided or else some of the four rectangular buildings nearer the road are also included. The map around these buildings is almost identical in 1890 and 1902, though no 61 Cranemore st does not exist on the 1890 map.

Re: Thomas Dugmore & family

I looked at the 1901 census the family were still living at 2 William's Buildings. Trevor Street. There were three more children all born in Birmingham
Rachel age 9
John W age 8
Charles age 5

George was now an Engine Stoker Staly? sorry last word isn't clear.

Re: Thomas Dugmore & family

A very grateful thanks to you all for your help :)

So my Great Grandparents weren't "moonlight fliters" then if they stayed in the same house for over 30 years :P

Mikejee: Thank you for the info and for the map. It looks as if Ada and Thomas lived within spitting distance of each other.

Pom: it looks as if we are not connected as Ada was still in the same house 61 Cranemore St.

Di: George snr and jnr seem to be working with the railways. I know my Grand Dad George jnr spent all his working life at Saltley.

I am going to enjoy looking at all your answers and again many thanks to you all.

I hope to trace distant cousins from what you have found for me.
