Hello everyone. I’m looking for 389 Dudley road. It comes up on my great grandfather census, he was a butcher by the name of William Watkins. I have one photo I suspect to be him but I’m wondering if there is any information or photo of 389 Dudley road 1900-1920

He was only there for the first few years of the 1900s, as the directory of 1900 gives him there as a butcher, but the 1903 one has another name as butcher there.

Mike do you know if there was a record shop on Dudley Road in the 1960s?

There is no separate section in the business part to specifically include those that sell records, so cannot search that way. Have gone through the listing for Dudley Road for 1965, and no record shop is listed as such, though this does not mean that there is not one described under another description

My husband has a vague memory of record shop by the Grove cinema, and a shop called Green's also sold them late 1950's. Also one by Hawley's the dance instructors.

this is a new one to me..dudley road at heath st west so that must be the birmingham arms pub out of view thanks to the bus...ive never seen a photo of the line of shops where the bill boards are also can just make out spring hill library in the distance...below is a 2016 st view and also todays st view...what a change in just a few years...its all built up now..the pub would have been on the right corner and heath st west running down the middle its a housing estate now
