Hi. Only just joined so apologies for a very late response! I started Rapid with my school mates Neil Baker and Jimmy Sparrow as we lived really close together and wanted our own team for the area. We had many great days and really great lads who played throughout the years. Sadly, a few have passed away but it would be so good to hear any memories of both Rapid and Duddy Manor School!

Great days indeed. So many good local lads played for us. I still see Denis Ramplin who was a wizard on the wing as was his younger brother Donald. So sad to hear of the passing of Winkle Newbold and Tony Woodford though. I went to Steve’s funeral. We also had a great player called Steve O’Donnell as well as Steve Donnelly! Tony’s brother Ian was a stalwart of the side for many years.

A few press cuttings across the years, may be of interest to former pupils. All from the British Newspaper Archive.
