Dollman Street

This is a long shot, my great aunt and uncle Ellen and George Williams lived in Dollman Street in 1883, does anyone know if there are electoral rolls for that date or later, and where would I find them, thanks

do you have their date of birth we may find them on the 1881 or 1891 census if they lived there then...

I'll go out on a limb and say that the address must have come from a baptism, marriage or death. So...

A George Williams married an Ellen Jane Price 31 Jul 1881 and they had a son Frederick George Williams baptised 18 Feb 1883 at St James the Less, Ashted. So correct year and area. He appear to have died soon afterward.

1881 census they would probably have been at separate addresses. I think Ellen was with her sister in 1881 and in 1891 Ellen and her daughter (Louisa) appear to be in Glamorgan, visitors of an Elizabeth James (sister in law?) without George.

Could be completely wrong though.

To the original query about ERs, to appear on an electoral roll and be able to vote you would need to qualify through property as well as being over 21, so unlikely.

marriage cert says they married at aston parish church july 31st 1881..address given for both says saltley aston...georges father was george williams occ accountant..ellens father was william price occ either stove or stone manufacturer..

the baptism for frederick george williams at st james the less feb 1883 gives address as just dolman st no number..occ of father was a clerk

young frederick died in march 1883

Probably stove manufacturer as he is listed as a Gas Fitter in 1871.

In 1881 George is listed as a Railway Clerk, living at 103 Little Green Lane.
 
And as Ellen was living at Parker's Buildings in 1881 which I think were on Duddeston Mill Road very close to Vauxhall Station, I wonder if that's where/how they met.
 
Goodness me, I've just gone to all the trouble to write the details down and you lot have beaten me to it:). Thank you all so much, I knew I'd get some help from this site but you really have surpassed yourselves. Problem is, if their occupations, father and son, were listed as accountants, although that could be anything I suppose, I can't seem to find anyone with the right details. It doesn't help that they have very common surnames. I found a Louisa born 1889 born in Barton upon Irwell, Manchester, seems a bit odd but people did move around.
 
Now we're getting somewhere, Ellen is in Wales 1891, as MWS said, then 1901, Ladywood, with other family members. I am so glad I'm a member of such a helpful community, thanks everyone.
 
People did get confused make errors or even lie. Accents also didn't help.

Before Lyn said George's father was listed as an accountant I thought I'd found him in 1871 as a Station Master and I'm still not convinced that it isn't him.

As I said in 1891 Ellen and Louisa are in Llanguick, Glamorgan, visitors of an Elizabeth James, who I think is her sister in law.

In 1881 Elizabeth is listed as a lodger of a Mary Williams, who I think is Elizabeth's grandmother.

In 1871 Mary Williams is with her widowed son, George (station master) and grandson, George. George jnr's birthplace is listed as Llanguick. Llanguick is very close to Pontardawe which is the birthplace given for George in 1881.

I don't know where George and Ellen are in 1901 but Ellen appears to be a widow in Brierley Hill in 1911.

Louisa is not far away in Dudley, having married a Frederick John Cartwright.
 
When Louise got married in 1905 I believe her father was still alive, but through all of the records he doesn't appear to be with his wife Ellen Jane, that caused some confusion I think
 
In 1921 Ellen Jane is with her daughter, who remarried Benjamin Turner although her name is mis-transcribed as Laura Mary. She seems to get about a bit, doesn't she!

Ellen died in 1945, reg. Mar qtr Rowley Regis.

In 1939 she is with her daughter in Pedmore (Rutherford Ham Lane).

Louisa has re-married to a Benjamin Turner, reg. Stourbridge Jun 1918. First husband possibly died in 1917.
