Does anyone know which pub this was?

In !898 John Duller only rented the refreshment rooms at Bingley Hall. He'd rented the refreshment rooms before at shows there. So the refreshment room may well have, on later occasions, been 'dressed' to look like a tavern/public bar.

I remember seeing a newspaper cutting of large, almost life-size model buildings of Birmingham's historical places on show at Bingley Hall. Very lifelike.

The first picture is of a Bingley Hall Trades Show (note the Bovril stand on the right) pity we can't spot the refreshment rooms (taps and all), although the second picture does show EH James's sample room and features Phoenix Dublin Stout.

Something struck me on closer examination of the photo which seems to confirm (well at least to me) that the bar is a temporary structure. Follow the dotted (ceiling) line and you'll see the windows continue much higher than the 'ceiling'. With windows set that high, this must be a bar in some sort of exhibition hall, so not in a pub. Also the light fitting is on a wire suspended from somewhere going off to the right. It doesn't look like a permanent light fitting. Wherever it was, the building this bar was in, had large windows with small leaded panes of glass.

Could this be the cause of the 'reflection' brummy-lad ? This was Bingley Hall roof in 1908. I notice from other images that there's a balcony around the hall, too. So perhaps the bar was on a balcony - earlier I mentioned that the refreshment room was over the entrance.

I think you’ve nailed it Viv, I looked everywhere for images of the interior and you managed to find one. It’s reasonably conclusive given that each window has 5 vertical panes of glass just like the original photograph. I’m convinced now that it was Bingley Hall.
