Unfortunately, any I know of are already featured on the excellent WMGC website.
 
I actually know a guy who did an all night sitting with a ghost group in a local pub to me, I think last week? Hes been telling me some interesting stuff about it, I know its not Brum but it is very curious. Can I ask your reasons for wanting to ask your question?
 
I KNOW THE ORIGINAL POST WAS 2004 BUT ONE PUB I KNOW OF HAD A NEWSPAPER ARTICLE WITH A FEATURE ON ITSELF ABOUT BEING HAUNTED. THAT PUB WAS THE ORIGINAL RED LION ON WARWICK ROAD ACOCKS GREEN I THINK ITS BEEN KNOCKED DOWN AND REBUILT BUT ITS ONE TO START WITH.

THE THREE TUNNS IN SUTTON COLDFIELD IS HAUNTED BY ONE OF CROMWELL,S MEN THAT OLIVER NOT OUR CROMWELL. well I dont think so? LOL
 
The pub i used to live in as a child was haunted,some strange things happened at night,bumps creaking floor boards and strange shadows,the pub was The Dog and Partridge Nechells. :o :o :o :o

Ps just a thought if ever you are over Tamworth area,we are a small group of people who are now a registered charity,that have saved a small victorian church from being developed into a house,the church and its grounds are haunted by a past vicar,if you would like more info p/m me. :)
 
HI THERE DUFFY, AND ANGIE, I HAVE JUST PICKED UP ON THE STORIES OF HAUNTED PUBS, AND THE DEBATE OF THE RED LION PUB , AT ACOCKS GREEN WHETHER OR NOT WAS IT EVER HAUNTED, ?, THE FACT OF THE MATTER IT WAS , AND HOW DO I KNOW THAT ,? , WELL HAS I HAVE JUST MENTION ED , THAT ME AND MY WIFE THERESA , WAY BACK IN TIME WAS THE LICENCEE,S OF THAT PARTICULAR PUB, JOHN WAS RIGHT MANY MANY YEARS AGO THERE USED TO BE A CONVENT / OR NUNNERY WHERE NUN,S USED TO LIVE IN FACT IT WAS A BIG HOUSE , AND THEY TURNED IT INTO A YE OLD INN AND IT HAD A LOVELY BOWLING GREEN , AND ONE TIME IN TIMES GONE BYE THERE WAS A LADY NUN WHOM WENT OUT WALKING AROUND THE GROUNDS OF THE GARDENS AND SHE GOT MURDERD , AND RAPED BY SOME SICK PERSON ,, ANY WAY THEY MOVED ON AND OPENED THE YE OLD RED LION , AS I SAID IT HAD ALOVELY BOWLING GREEN BETTER THAN THE WARD END EX SERVICE MANS CLLUB IT WAS,T A BIG PUB OR A BIG INN , AS IT WAS , NEVER OR LESS THE BREWERY CAME ALONG THE OLD MR MITCHELL AND MR BUTLER WHOM STARTED TO CREATE THE OLD BREWERY AT CAPE HILL LONG BEFORE THE, M/B COMBINE STARTED TO GO BIG BUSSINESS, BOUGHT THE YE OLD INN DEMOLISHED THE BUILDING, AND BROUHT IT THEY KNOCKED IT DOWN AND REBUILT IT , TO MUCH DISATIFICATION TO THE REGULARS, SO THEY DEMANDED THEY REBUILD AND PUT IT BACK, AND SO THEY DID, BUT GETTING BACK TO THE STORIES OF BEING HAUNTED , IT,S TRUE , BELEIVE ME , WE HAD MANY A RESTLESS NIGHT,S THERE WE HAD THE CLANGING OF CHAINS LIKE THE DRAY MEN WAS DELIVERING, AND THE CONSTANT ROLLING OF BARRELLS ACROSS THE FLOOR DURING THE NIGHT, AND SEEN THE FIGURE ON THE CELLER DECENDING STEPS TO THE CELLAR AT LATE OF A NIGHT, IF I COULD PUT A FRESH BARRALLON TAP BEFORE A CERTAIN TIME I WOULD RATHER THAN GO DOWN THE CELLAR LAST THING AT NIGHT AND I WOULD NOT GO AND TURN THE GASSES OFF UNTIL NEXT MORNING FOR THE FEAR OF SEEING THE SISTER I HAVE THINGS THROWN AT ME DOWN, AFEW TIMES OVER THE YEARS THERE , THERE IS NO QUESTION OR DOUBT OF WENT ON DOWN THERE , WE KNOW CO,S WE WERE THE LICENCEE, AND MY GRANDFATHER BE FORE US IN TIME GONE BYE, GOD BLESS HIM HE,S PASSED OVER MANY ,MANY YEARS AGO NOW,

The 'Manor House' in West Bromwich.....there have been many, many articles written about its resident ghosts. As I child I witnessed a strange event in the Great Hall area.....the Manor House was under reconstruction and various archaelogical digs were being carried out...the House was then a mere shell....my father and I were standing at what is now the 'bar end' of the hall, as we stood and looked about us, a large builders' plank took flight from the right hand side of the far wall and flew horizontally across the hall and hit the opposite wall with a thunderous clatter!

I looked up at my father for a brief second before taking flight myself! A couple of minutes later my father found me hiding in a medieval drain; only my head was above ground! I may not be very brave but I'm damned quick when I have to be!

My father chuckled to see my hiding place, but I wasn't fooled by his apparent calm, as his hair had literally stood-up on end. He looked like a somewhat abashed porcupine!

We saw that plank shift from one wall to the other, at a sustained height......no one other than my father and I were present. Unless fired from a canon, nothing could have thrown such a heavy plank in such a manner. I have no doubt myself, that it was due to some mischievous spirit.....even my old Dad, who was a pronounced 'rationalist' could offer ANY other explanation. Indeed, he didn't even attempt to do so; he KNEW that he had witnessed something unearthly!
 
The Sailors Return, which was at the junction of Watery La / Garrison La. Function room was supposed to be aunted by a soldier. Its was demolished long time ago, but I wonder if anything strange happens in the building thats there now - Halfords I think..........

Not really Brum, but the Tardebigge, the large function room on the left, looking from the front of the building was supposed to be haunted. I think it had been built as a military hospital or something in WW1.
 
The Station Hotel in Dudley has a reputation for being haunted and has

featured in various TV and Radio programmes over the years...
 
My mum and sister used to work in St Pauls Tavern in St Pauls square (Hockley) .. They swore blind it was haunted and their work mates had their own tales to tell about their own experiences over the years there..
My mum for many years was a non-believer of ghosts.. For her to admit there was something there must have been a weird moment for her .. lol.. bless her. x

If a ghost can drift through solid walls, how on earth can it drag heavy chains or trip light switches? It's one thing to go along with a local story but I bet that if a ghost appeard appeared through a wall and into a room full of people, then started wailing, how many people would remain in the room/

Bought a book today! "Haunted Birmingham". I haven't read it all yet, pubs listed in there so far.
RBs nightclub, Lower Parade, Sutton Coldfield.
Sheldon Hall, Gressel Lane, Tile Cross.
Sub Lounge, Barwick Street.
The Case is altered, Mill Street, Sutton Coldfield, formaly the Gate Inn.
The Old Crown, High street, deritend. (dirty end Dek)
The Three Tuns Hotel, High street, Sutton Coldfield.
The Trocadero is there too. Some internal pictures in this book good reading so far. Reg.
 
Hello rachel, no I never have, and did you know that there are stretches of road where ghosts are supposed to stand by the roadside. I have passed all those sites countless hundreds of times in my life as a driver and never saw a thing.

I must admit. When i lived in Nechells when i was very young, i seen a ghost then. He was as real as you and i, standing at the bedroom door. Dressed in old days clothes. I told my mum and she foo foo-ed it, and claimed that i was poorly and was probably hallucinating. She maybe right but i swear from that day to this that he was as real as anything. I always had a weird feeling where i lived and was petrified to walk up the hall on my own sometimes.. Very eerie.. I reckon the flat i lived in was haunted. Thankfully however, i've never lived anywhere that has been haunted since. Now i'm older i reckon i'd be less likely to see anything anyway. Plus i'd be frightened out of my wit.. But i can never say that ghosts aren't real either. I'm just waiting for more visits and more proof lol..
I remember seeing Arthur C Clarkes weird and mysterious world when i was a teenager.. He explained ghosts to be like a kind of visual echo of the past.. Maybe he's right..

The lad in lane in erdington is suppossed to be haunted a local ghost team done a visit there about 2 years ago. Dont know name of group. They recon it is haunted by a young lad. A licence of pub told me a few years ago that a certain area in the pub her dog would not go by. Also she had a cleaner who used to talk to herself, but when cleaner was asked who she was talking to she said a young lad
 
The Old Irish Harp on the Chester Road near Aldridge was well-known to be haunted by an old man who was not only sometimes seen in an alcove in the back bar, but would occasionally give a cheeky nip on the derriere to any attractive lady he fancied. This happened to my sister-in-law at closing time one night, when she was the last person in the bar. I also heard that sometimes you could get a whiff of old-fashioned strong pipe tobacco. I think Nick of the WMGC knows about this place. Used to be a good pub until it got restaurantified.

I am expected to believe that an apparition which will go through a wall if it leans on said wall, will not fall through the floor. I am also expected to believe that women who believe a ghost is present will remain alone the room. If ghosts ghosts are real why have'nt many more or even all of us seen them? If they are real, where are they all because so many millions of people have died since the start of mankind that wherever they are it must be a bit overcrowded now. The same must be said about the animal, reptile and insect species as well.
I am not saying 'I DO NOT BELIEVE', I am saying I will keep an open mind until it is proven one way or the othere.
 
The Bagot Arms also reputedly haunted - but by a happy spirit. One of the head bar/cellar men passed away in the cellar (back in the 80's if memory serves) - Bert ( Malek I believe) and is said to be still there overseeing 'his' cellar .

hello ghost seeker and welcome to the forum..i am afraid that angie is no longer a full member...she only has guest status so will not be able to reply to you unless of course she re joins...the dog and partridge that angie mentions is still standing..i was in there about 3 years back but sadly its been closed for some time now...it would not surprise me if it was haunted as it backs onto the co op funeral parlour..both our mom and dad were resting there in recent years...of course i do believe in ghosts given the fact that both mom and i saw the same one (mom twice) but this was in our old house built around 1840..

Try the red lion warick road in acocks green it as been haunted for years
During the night you used to get the clanging of chains and barralls being rolled about
Around the cellar the old pub used to be called the ye old red lion pub
It was built on an old convent and the story goes back to late 1800/ 1900
A sister of the convent was murdered years later they demoed it and built a pub
Called some think else did not work so locals demanded the originsl name back
To the red lion so they did and brought the building forewarded closer to warick road
And is still there today the experience we still got fifteen years ago or so
Unless the new people have chased it out

Thanks Lyn, I knew it was a long shot as the post was way back in 2006, however I thought I'd ask the question, many thanks for the reply :) wow that's a great piece of information, very much appreciated
 
Interesting thread this. Do the moderators know of one on haunted houses members have lived in in Birmingham? If not, I could start one. No address given, of course, just a street. (Gives me chills just to remember it, what with Halloween coming up and all :) )

I am genuinely seeking people to be interviewed on film with such memories, or if your experiencing them now to!

I would love to hear from anyone who'd be interested in being interviewed and sharing their fascinated experiences, obviously I am only after genuine cases, in and around Birmingham and the West Midlands area's
