Dobbin Sarah

Morning Mike-g, Sorry, didn't realise it had come over so abrupt but looking at it can see what you mean. Just had my first laptop which I am just getting used to. Some times it appears to have a mind of its own! I did put more detail but can see it's not there.

I am trying to trace the 1st marriage of Sarah Dobbin who married my gt.gt.grandfather James Alexander in 1841 in Whitechaple. At the time of their marriage she was stated as a widow.(Not sure if Dobbin is her maiden name) I believe my gt. gt grandfather had previously married another Sarah who would be my gt.gt. grandmother but can't find any details to confirm this.

Sorry again for the abruptness, I really appreciate, all the help I have been give by all at the forum. What a brilliant site, love it. Pat

hi pat, i cant see anything for the previous marriage, it may have been before marriage certs began in 1837. i suggest you buy the marriage certificate of james alexander, and it should say sarahs maiden name as i would think dobbin was her married name. all the best, shera

Hello Shera, thanks for your reply, didn't know marriage certificates didn't exist before 1837, still learning loads thanks to all at the forum. Regards Pat

previous to 1837 pat, there were just parish records of the marriage at the church involved, so if you can find sarah dobbins maiden name you may still be able to find a parish record of the marriage using familysearch.org . all the best, shera
