Deykin Avenue School

Birmingham Post
I am trying to track down JOHNNY CLARKE who left Yew Tree Junior for Deykin Avenue Secondary in 1959. There are 3 of his best school pals from Yew Tree who would be delighted to hear from anyone that knew him at Deykin or what became of him.

“The Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Alderman T. B. Pritchett, visited Deykin-avenue Senior School, Witton, yesterday. Here is Frank Holroyd, captain of the school, presenting to the Lord Mayor a cheque for £55, which the children collected in a week. The money is for Birmingham's Spitfire Fund. Holroyd also handed Alderman Pritchett a £5 cheque for the War Relief Fund.”

It's often a case of guess the theme with these Parents' Day photos. This inter-war one was taken in 19329. No idea of the theme, but obviously a king and queen and their court. Loving the modern tea set to the right of the queen.
