This is the one area of the family history I haven't really done much research on yet, mainly because of the uncertainty of the name. I recently saw some documents from WW1 from a great grandfather wih the name Daley. Thereafter we were known as Deeley. I'm not sure if this mis-spelling was a one-off, or if he actually changed the name from Daley to Deeley. There are other documents I've seen where he was called Daley, so I'm thinking the name did indeed change. This might also explain why Deeleys are mostly prominent in the Midlands and Devon, where I believe a branch of the family relocated to. If anyone has any matches in their tree or can explain any of this mystery, I'd be grateful.
My grandfather was Henry (Harry) Deeley, born 1908 in Birmingham, died 1988. Married Evelyn Allcott, Birmingham, sometime in the 1930s. Not much to go on, I know, but it's the one branch of the family I haven't really done anything on yet,
Regards
Craig Deeley
