Decipher bad Hand Writing

janeld

master brummie
Could someone Please help me to decipher the professions of my relatives in 2 hope Place, Rushton St, Ladywood,
Geo Taylor B 1849 Gooty hill staffs
Eliz " 1846 Stourbridge
The census is 1901, RG13 piece 2828, Folio 103 page 21.
I cant work out what Walter and Arthur are doing.

I know the writing is terrible but on A*****Y the summary is all wrong, He was actually born in Gorsty hill, It also annoys me when they wirte down abreviations instead of putting in the whole name, I have never heard of any one called eliz or geo, But thats me on my soap box.:angry2:
Is there any way of correcting the mistakes so anyone else wont have the trouble I did finding them??

George On Genes Reunited he is down a "Tyre Worker" on "Own account" and "At Home"

Arther "Wood Turner" on Genes Reunited.

Arthur Word *****

thanks Shera I belive youve got it. youd think these people would have been given a writing test before they were given the job. My mom had to in 1981.. Thanks again.. Jane

Geo Snr= Zinc Worker
Geo Jnr = Machinist Miller
Walter = Carpenter
David = Machinist Plainer
Arthur = Wood W Joiner (Presume the W = Work/er)

Indeed there is - if they have the name of the person incorrect.

When you click on the link to 'View Record" look to the left of the page for "Page Tools".

One of the options is "Comments and corrections".

I note that there appear to be plans for corrections to be made to place names etc however this has not yet been implemented.

Doug

Thanks Doug, I have added an alternate name. It will be a lot better when we can correct place names, I have come across a few lately, having local knowledge helps. Jane
