I can now let you all know the reason I went to Key Hill Cemetery today. I went to find the grave of David Barr relative of our own Brenda Barr Phillips. I am pleased to say with the help of Brian and Colin we found the memorial and I took photo's and recorded the inscription. Brenda is happy for me to post the pictures and inscriptions here for us all to see.
Brenda wrote.. you solved one problem for me l have a picture of 2 sons of David Barrs taken in South Africa , they were visiting relatives. David Barr came from humble beginnings and went on to do well for himself (as my brother said heres a Barr that made it), he was a very strong Weslyan Methodist and was quite involved with the church and travelled a lot, also believed and worked at supported the beginning of the Labour movement, just about all my Barrs came from Fillongley but ended up in Aston..if l could get the book he wrote l'd be able to add more.....
You can see from the photo that their are two memorials. One is an upright stone laid down the other a flat slab. Their seems to be a connection with the Newey family of Newey and Ayre family
